| Public Charity Status |
Correct and consistent tax status indicators are a priority. Applicants should be certain that their IRS determination letter and their IRS Form 990 are consistent with regard to the organization's 509(a)(1, 2 or 3) classification. While the well known 501(c)(3) non-profit status remains the initial test, the correct 509(a) classification is equally important. Organizations should consult their tax advisor if there are questions or uncertainties.
